Dropverse is on a mission to use the best technology to create an immersive digital playground for interacting with digital items in the real world.
We partnered with Dropverse in 2021 to help bring their unique Web3 app and brand to life in time for Art Basel in Miami, FL. The Dropverse app is designed for NFT fanatics and newcomers alike, with an interface that makes discovering and collecting unique NFTs fun and explorative.
From a UX perspective, we aimed to create a balance between a simplistic, straightforward interface and user journey, and an exciting, engaging, cyberpunk-inspired UI to make the experience as immersive as possible. The Dropverse app allows users to create an account where they can store and monitor any NFTs they collect, browse current drop events, follow markers on a map to uncover exclusive drops nearby, and transfer any NFTs they collect to their wallet or view them on OpenSea.
Our journey began with our creative team exploring the existing prototypes and materials Dropverse had to offer, and using what we found to start conceptualizing the user experience flow, important features, and also the overall Dropverse brand. We set our sites on a vision of a unique, user-friendly Web3 app that adds a sense of adventure to the hunt for great NFTs, with a visual style inspired by Sci-Fi and cyberpunk themes. We started planning out the key user flows and journeys of the app first, so that we could move confidently into the UI design phase. Our process for visual design was a balancing act of style, functionality, and accessibility.
At every stage, we would reflect back on whether our designs were the optimal choices to create that balance, and made sure that our components were consistent across the application. We also worked very closely with our development team in order to ensure we could launch the app under an aggressive timeline. Figma was a crucial tool for making this happen, as it allowed the entire team access to our design work. As we iterated on the app, we made sure to regularly check in with our developers to make sure that our designs were feasible and realistic to achieve for our deadline.

Thankfully our development team found this application to be a breeze. Our team quickly and confidently built the Dropverse app to be functional and aesthetic in time for the big launch. However even the smoothest projects can still have their challenges at times. One challenge our dev team faced was syncing the backend with the blockchain. Blockchain transactions happen asynchronously and we need to verify the success or failure of transactions and reconcile our internal records with that of the blockchain. However - as usual - our team worked together to find a way over this hurdle and deliver the experience the Dropverse team was looking for.

Despite the aggressive timeline, we successfully completed the MVP of the app in time for launch at DCentral Miami during Art Basel 2021. The hard work from design and development paid off quickly as early adoption at Art Basel events was very successful, and the app generated a lot of interest from participants. We’re looking forward to our continued work with Dropverse to continue to expand upon this exciting and unique Web3 experience.
